Q1 & Q2 Impact: Building Safer Communities, One Shift at a Time in 2026

The hospitality industry is moving fast, and at the SAFE Bar Network, we are moving right along with it. Our mission has always been about more than just checking a box for mandatory training—it’s about reshaping nightlife culture to ensure every patron and team member has a fun, safe, and respectful experience.

The momentum we built early in the year didn't slow down. Looking at our combined numbers through Q2, the impact of this shared commitment speaks volumes:

  • 115 venues completed SAFE Bar Network training.

  • 1,926 Hospitality Professionals learned valuable de-escalation skills.

  • 1,273,625 People will have a safer night out this year as a direct result of these efforts.

With 413 active members across 36 states and 127 cities, our network is proving that shifting the culture of safety happens one shift, one bar, and one conversation at a time.

Voices from the Bar: Why This Matters

While data highlights the growing scale of our reach, it’s the honest feedback from the people on the floor—the bartenders, servers, bouncers, and managers—that shows the true depth of our impact.

From Santa Ana, California, to Washington D.C., hospitality teams are speaking out about what real-world, peer-led training feels like:

"I came in skeptical that it was going to feel like every other mandatory corporate video, but I loved the open dialogue. Having instructors who have actually been in our positions made the conversations feel gritty, real, and relatable."
"I learned how to handle situations in a more effective way. Confrontation isn’t always the best solution, so having tactical suggestions to de-escalate has given me a lot of relief."
"It gave me actionable tools that I didn’t have before. Now I know how to use the '3 Ds'—Direct, Delegate, Distract—to step in safely and smoothly."
"The training is a great reminder that we actually have control in our spaces where alcohol is served. We don't just have to watch things happen; we can actively shape the environment."

"It creates the perfect opportunity to talk about things we can do to avoid hard situations before they happen. Just getting the staff together to talk through these scenarios helps us build solutions for the future."

"This class is valuable for both new and seasoned employees alike. It opens up an industry-wide conversation that we drastically need more of."
"The most valuable takeaway is that it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. Knowing we can look out for each other—whether by creating a distraction, pulling a coworker away for a fake task, or looping in a manager—makes us a stronger team."
"The training shifts your mindset to being an active bystander. It teaches you how to read body language, check in with a simple thumbs-up, and let customers or coworkers know they aren't isolated or alone."
"It makes talking about uncomfortable and difficult subjects completely approachable. It genuinely makes you feel like together, we can keep this place safe."

Real Tools for Real Situations

Our goal is to look past rigid checklists and give hospitality workers dynamic, flexible tools to manage complex social dynamics on the fly. From setting firm boundaries to mastering creative intervention strategies, we are seeing teams walk away from our sessions feeling more unified, confident, and prepared.

Every venue that joins the SAFE Bar Network sends a clear signal to its staff and community: safety isn’t an afterthought, it’s a core value of the hospitality experience.

Together, we can keep this place safe. Cheers to an incredible first half of the year, and to keeping the momentum going through the seasons ahead!
