SAFE BAR TRAINER CERTIFICATION
SAFE BAR TRAINING
All employees participate in a one-hour active bystander training each year. The training is an interactive conversation that focuses on creating a workplace culture where staff consistently look out for coworkers/customers and keep them safe.
Owners, managers, staff and community members are encouraged to become certified SAFE Bar trainers. Training focuses on the skills to be leaders in creating a workplace culture where employees consistently look out for coworkers/customers and keep them safe. After completing training participants have the skills to facilitate or co-facilitate the one-hour SAFE Bar, active bystander training for bar, restaurant, and nightclub staff.
Interactive, web-based training and podcasts serve as an opportunity for managers, owners, and staff to learn more about SAFE Bar training and the Network. Program participants share how they have used their skills to notice, interrupt, and support when they have seen concerning behaviors.
SAFE Bar Network staff will provide guidance to SAFE Bar trained owners, managers, and staff to assist in building relationship with rape crisis and response centers, campus sexual assault organizations, and other similar community partners. The goal of these relationships is to collaborate and contribute to preventing sexual harassment and sexual assault in the local community.
